Call for Submissions

The IILPM Annual Global Awards are set out to recognise exceptional achievements in both Legal Project Management (LPM) and Legal Process Improvement (LPI). These awards showcase the incredible developments and innovative approaches in applying the LPM and LPI principles and practices to the betterment of legal service delivery.

Our awards focus to strengthen global knowledge exchange and networking in the field of legal project management and legal process improvement.

Entries are open until 5pm CET on the 27 October 2023.

There is no application fee.

To submit an application:

  1. Identity the correct award for the type and size of your organisation;
  2. Download the IILPM Awards 2023_Submission Application_1.01;
  3. Complete the application form;
  4. Email Antony Smith of any enquires about the process;
  5. Email [email protected] with the completed application form before 5pm CET on the 27 October 2023;  and
  6. Prepare for an online interview in the event of being short listed for an award.

The announcements and Award Ceremony will be conducted late in November 2023.

Award Categories and Eligibility

Award categories and eligibility

The IILPM Global Advisory Committee (GAC) determined the following award categories for this year’s submissions:

  1.   LPM Project of the Year in a Law Firm or Alternative Legal Service Provider
  2.   LPM Project of the Year in a Small/Mid-Sized Law Firm (up to 200 lawyers)
  3.   LPM Project of the Year in an In-house Legal Department
  4.   Legal Process Improvement Project of the Year (any type of organization)

An organisation can apply separately for a LPM and LPI award.

Selection Criteria

All submissions will be assessed and evaluated by a jury of experienced private practitioners, in-house counsel and consultants.

Key selection criteria include:

  • The submission requires a description of a project during the past 12 months (from July 2022) that has driven a significant improvements in the organisation’s Legal Project Management or Legal Process Improvement capabilities. Examples of areas that may be applicable to your innovative initiative may include: training or coaching programs, usage of technology, pricing practices, methodology and workplace tools.
  • Beyond organisational and contract details, the submission requires a response to the 4 assessment questions (maximum of 2,000 words total) that should clearly outline the project and its impact of applying LPM or LPI principles and practices in the entity. The 4 questions comprise:
    1. What did you set out to achieve?
    2. What were the key challenges and how were they resolved?
    3. What were the outcomes?
    4. How did you measure your success?

Scope of Your Application

As per the application form, the scope of the submission should include:

  1. Award category selected for submission;
  2. Legal name, address and description of the applicant organisation;
  3. Contact person’s name and email address of the individual making the application on behalf of the applicant organisation;
  4. Responses to the Basis of Application section:
    • With a maximum of 2,000 words, please describe the innovation in LPM or LPI that your organisation has successfully implemented during the last 12 months (from July 2022) responding to the four assessment questions, responding to the following 4 questions:
      • What was achieved?
      • What were the key challenges and how were they resolved?
      • What were the outcomes?
      • How did you measure this success?
    • Client/partner/business user testimonies are welcome where appropriate

Short-listed applicant organisations may be required to attend an online interview.

An organisation can apply for both the LPM and LPI award as separate submissions.

Award information may be published (except for information that may identify any client information) for short-listed or winning organisations.

The Award Ceremony will be conducted in November 2023.
